Renowned poet and lyricist Mullanezhi Neelakandan passed away on Saturday (October 22, 2011) morning at a private hospital in Thrissur. He was 63.
Mullanezhi was admitted in the hospital following a chest pain on Friday night (October 21, 2011).
Born in Ollur Avanasseri Mullanezhi Mana in Thrissur, Mullanezhi was a teacher. He later became a poet, lyricist and actor.
Mullanezhi had been awarded the Kerala Sahithya Academy award in 1995 and 2010. He has also received the state award for Best Lyricist in 1981 for the film Njavalpazham.
The lyricist has penned more than 69 songs for 22 movies. He has also acted in films like Uppu, Piravi, Kazhakam and Neelathamara.
