There is no stopping maverick director Ram Gopal Varma.
Despite his recent films not setting the box office on fire, Varma manages to get actors and a technical crew to work for him for free. Whats more, he manages to link the fortunes of the film to that of the actors. And make his gimmicks his USP.
Ramgopal Varma's `Dongala Mutha' made with six lakh rupees will release this Friday and in all probability recover it's cost in just a single show. The actors and technical crew will get paid only if the film makes money. The only expenditure was on hiring cameras and the film was shot entirely in natural light.
RGV says, "In any film production, script will be ready, actors are ready and they know their dialogues. The time-consuming factor is changing lighting in between shots. We have used cameras which are so small in size that they can be carried easily anywhere.''
The film stars Raviteja, Charmy and Prakash Raj and was shot in Hyderabad in five days. The post-production work took only a week.
Raviteja shares, "I did this film as I liked the story and the concept, the manner in which he explained to me."
`Dongala Mutha', or gang of thieves, is a typical RGV thriller. Now can the director and gang pull it off and draw the audiences to the theatres or will the actors and crew be robbed off the fruits of their labour?
