Actress Richa Chadha, who is currently awaiting the release of Main Aur Charles, has signed for a role in upcoming film Sarabjit, which will be directed by Omung Kumar.
"Yes, they have approached me for a role and I will be doing it. However, at this point of time legalities and paper work is being done and I can't comment anything more," Richa said in a statement. (Also Read: Aishwarya Rai Agreed to Sarabjit Role in 'Just 15 Minutes')
The Fukrey actress will be as Sarabjit's (played by actor Randeep Hooda) wife in the upcoming biopic, which is said to be based on slain Indian prisoner who died in a Pakistani jail.
"But yes, it's true I am offered the role to play Randeep's wife and I will sign on the dotted lines soon. It's an interesting role and can't wait to talk more on the same," she added. (Also Read: Sarabjit Biopic May Be Screened at Cannes Film Fest, Says Omung Kumar)
The film is based on Sarabjit Singh, an Indian farmer who was convicted of terrorism and spying in Pakistan, was sentenced to death. He was attacked by inmates at a prison in Lahore in April 2013, and died a few days later.
The film also features actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who will be seen playing the role of Sarabjit's sister Dalbir Kaur.
