He had ruffled plenty of featherswith his digs on Hollywood stars while hosting the GoldenGlobe Awards last month but funnyman Ricky Gervais has beenasked back for the ceremony next year.
The British comedian said that the show had fetchedhigh ratings and the bosses have asked him to host the GoldenGlobes for a third time next year, reported Daily Mail online."The ratings went up again, and the organisers askedme to consider a third year. But I don't think I should. Idon't know what I could do better. I certainly couldn't getmore press for them, that's for sure," said the 49-year-old.
Writing in this week's Heat magazine, Gervais said,"I did exactly what I went to do: improve on lastyear's and have a laugh. The response was staggering. It wasdiscussed on every news channel and chat show for weeks."
"The weird thing is, the question is always, 'DidRicky go too far?' And the answer is always, 'No, I have yetto find anyone who was actually offended by it."However, Gervais didn't reveal whether or not he'dsaid yes or no to hosting the event for the third time in arow.
He defended his controversial performance at theGolden Globes last month, claiming it was his job to "roast"the stars at the ceremony.
The comedian came in for heavy criticism for aiming asuccession of barbed personal jokes at many of the gatheredcelebrities, including Bruce Willis, Johnny Depp and AngelinaJolie.
