London: Veteran percussionist Ringo Starr says his good friend and former Beatles bandmate Paul McCartney is "ready to rock" once again, after recuperating from illness.
The 72-year-old music icon was hospitalized in Tokyo, Japan, for six nights due to a virus in May, reported Contactmusic.
"I spoke to him while he was in hospital. He said he was doing fine. Now, he is getting fit and is ready to rock," Starr said.
McCartney was forced to cancel several concerts in Asia after falling ill, but he is now recovering well. Currently, he is on a holiday in Ibiza with his wife Nancy Shevell, 53.
He also celebrated his 72nd birthday last week and is expected to be back on stage on July 5, when he kicks off the North American leg of the worldwide tour.
