Riteish Deshmukh's father Vilasrao Deshmukh has been airlifted to a hospital in Chennai as he is in a critical condition. According to reports, the 67-year-old former chief minister of Maharashtra has liver cirrhosis and both his kidneys have stopped functioning. Doctors are trying to stabilise his condition so that they can conduct a liver transplant.
Vilasrao Deshmukh's illness had been diagnosed a year ago and there had been considerable improvement after he underwent treatment abroad. But recently, his health took a turn for the worse. Riteish has reportedly stated that he is ready to donate a part of his liver (as is required in such cases) to help his father. However, tests are yet to be conducted to determine if it will be a match. Our prayers are with the family.
