Rituparno Ghosh's film Noukadubi, based on Rabindranath Tagore's novel of the same name, will have its world premiere at the International FilmFestival of India (IFFI) in Goa next week.
Starring Bengali actors Prosenjit Chatterjee, Jisshu Sengupta and the sister duo of Raima Sen and Riya Sen, the film will also be the opening film of IFFI's India premiersection on November 24, a release from producer Mukta Arts said.
Ghosh has given Noukadubi, a tale of four cross-wired lovers where wives are swapped mistakenly, a contemporary makeover in the Subhash Ghai production.The Sen sisters, who will share the screen space for the first time, play the wives.
The screening of the film, which has already generated a lot of interest in the international film festival circuit, is also a celebration of Tagore's 150th birth anniversary. Noukadubi is slated for theatrical release worldwide at end of January next year, both in Hindi and Bengali versions.
