Robert Downey Walks Out of Interview After Being Asked About Jail and Drugs
A still from Robert Downey Jr.'s Channel 4 interview
Actor Robert Downey Jr walked out midway through an interview to Britain's Channel 4 after the questions turned to his difficult past.

The 50-year-old actor was on Channel 4 to promote his new film The Avengers: Age of Ultron but cut the interview short when reporter Krishnan Guru-Murthy pressed him to answer questions about his jail time, his relationship with his father, the alcohol and drug addictions that put him in jail, and a quote in a 2008 The New York Times interview in which he had said, "You can't go from a $2,000-a-night suite at La Mirage to a penitentiary and really understand it and come out a liberal."

"What are we doing? Are we promoting a movie," the actor asked his interrogator, his eyes repeatedly shifting away from the camera.

"I don't know how comfortable you are talking about yourself," Mr Downey, Jr was asked. It appeared he wasn't comfortable at all. About six-and-a-half minutes into the interview, he exited abruptly complaining that the chat was getting "a little Diane Sawyer", referring to the US TV journalist known for her extremely personal interviews with celebrities.

Krishnan Guru-Murthy later tweeted a link to the interview describing it as 'A steely moment from Ironman.' This is not the first time he has had a celebrity walk out on him. In 2014, director Quentin Tarantino refused to answer questions while promoting Django Unchained after Mr Guru-Murthy drew a connection between violence in a film and violence on real life.

Robert Downey Jr appears as Iron Man in superhero ensemble film The Avengers: Age of Ultron, opening in India on Friday.
