Robert Vadra walks the ramp for Ashish Soni
New Delhi: Stealing all the limelight, Priyanka Gandhi's entrepreneur husband Robert Vadra became the "unintentional" muse with his signature pencil moustache, for designer Ashish Soni's collection at the Van Heusen India Men's Week.

The 70's inspired collection showcased last night by Soni marked the end of the first day of three day extravaganza.

Vadra, who was seated in the first row with son Raihan was seen clapping and cheering for his close friend's Spring /Summer '11 collection that reflected a chic sporty Englishman look inspired by 1970s, with his signature pencil moustache being sported by Soni's models on the ramp.

When asked whether he was the inspiration behind the look on the runway, Vadra said, "I would like to believe so. It was an inspiring collection there. I don't attend many shows but I had to come for Ashish. He is such a talent. Given a choice I would love to buy every piece out there."

Soni, on other hand, said that while he did not mean to copy Vadra but since they are such great friends, his look may have been at the back of his mind.

The men on the ramp donned shirts, trousers, Bandgalas, jackets, shorts with bow-tie, pocket squares and scarves. From checks, plaids to floral prints and polka dots, Soni tried to blend the 70's with a contemporary look.

With colours like like grey, blue, beige, maroon, navy blue, olive green, mauves and orange, the collections used light fabrics like prints, checks, Madras plaid squares, gabardine, denim and poplin.

"That collection showed a man who was young with a semi-army look, a little nerdish and simple. A perfect marriage  material kinds whom you would like your mother to meet," Soni said.

When asked whether going back to 70's will be the new trend, Soni said, "I think it has that element of nostalgia attached to it which people will like. The uniqueness about my collection was tailoring. There has been a lot of hand stitching, cutting and detailing done in the collection which is the trend I see on the near future."
