Rockstar leads music awards nominations

Mumbai: Imtiaz Ali's Rockstar is leadingthe 3rd Global Indian Music Academy (GIMA) awards with 11nominations.

Music maestro AR Rahman, who has given the music in thefilm, has been nominated for a total of 7 awards for hisexceptional work in the Ranbir Kapoor starrer.

These include Best Music Arranger and Programmer, BestBackground Score, 2 nominations for Best Playback Singer Malealong with Javed Ali and Mohit Chauhan, Best Music Director,Best Film Song and Best Film Album.

It is closely followed by Shahrukh Khan starrer Ra Oneand Zoya Akhtar's Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Both the filmshave bagged 8 nominations.

Hrithik Roshan-Sanjay Dutt starrer Agneepath, releasedearlier this year, has also received 5 nominations.

Delhi Belly and The Dirty Picture have also beennominated for the best film album category.

Vishal Shekhar have a total of 5 nominations for theirwork in The Dirty Picture, Kahaani and Ra One.

Shreya Ghoshal has also garnered three nominations in theBest Playback Singer category for films Agneepath, Shor inthe City and The Dirty Picture.

Newcomer Ayushmann Khurrana has been nominated in twocategories for Best Debut Composer and Best Lyricist & Singerfor the soulful Paani Da Rang from Vicky Donor.

Newcomer Kamal Khan has also been nominated in the BestDebut category for the song Ishq Sufiana which gainedmassive popularity.

International artiste Akon and Mika Singh have also beennominated in the Best Playback Singer category for ChammakChallo and Subah Hone Na De.
