Robert Chartoff, an Oscar-winning producer of widely acclaimed films including American classics Raging Bull, Rocky and The Right Stuff, died on June 10 at the age of 81, CNN reported quoting his daughters.
Mr Chartoff worked on the numerous Rocky movies that featured Sylvester Stallone in against-all-odds fights.
He also produced Martin Scorsese's black and white Raging Bull, a biopic that starred Robert De Niro as mercurial boxer Jake LaMotta, for which he won an Oscar for Best Actor.
Mr Chartoff won an Oscar for Best Picture for Rocky and was nominated for Raging Bull and 1983 space program film The Right Stuff.
He was listed by the Internet Movie Database as being involved in producing the latest iteration of the Rocky series, Creed.
