New Delhi: Actress Rose McGowan has announced on Twitter that she's been fired for calling out Hollywood sexism in a casting call:

The tweet that apparently got Ms McGowan fired was this one, which also implies that the male lead in the film that was being cast was Adam Sandler:

In a separate tweet, the 41-year-old actress said this was what she objected to most:

Ms McGowan told Entertainment Weekly that neither Mr Sandler nor the wardrobe department of the film had been in touch with her, also saying, "It was just so dumb. I was offended by the stupidity more than anything. I was offended by the fact that went through so many people's hands and nobody red flagged it. This is normal to so many people. It was probably even a girl that had to type it up. It's institutionally OK."

Rose McGowan is best-known for the Quentin Tarantino collaboration Grindhouse and her film credits also include Scream, Monkeybone and The Black Dahlia. She starred on TV series Charmed.

It's unclear which Adam Sandler project the casting note was for. In April, the actor's work-in-progress for Netflix, titled The Ridiculous Six, was embroiled in a race row after several Native American actors quit accusing the script of 'insulting' and 'misrepresenting' Apache women and culture.
