London: British comedian and actor Russell Brand's marriage to pop star Katy Perry reportedly fell apartbecause he was desperate to become a father.
The couple, who wed in a lavish ceremony in India 14 months ago, apparently had a series of rows about 27-year-old Perry's partying lifestyle and reluctance to settle down, Daily Express reported.
"His decision to file for divorce was prompted by Perry's unwillingness to settle down and start a family. Brand filed for the divorce rather than Perry because she did not want to disappoint her evangelical Christian parents by initiating the end of the marriage," the source said.
The 36-year-old funnyman, who is building a career in Hollywood movies including starring in the 2011 remake of Arthur, could profit hugely from the end of the short-lived marriage as the 'I Kissed A Girl' hitmaker is now worth USD 45 million approximately.
