Cohen pulled out of the project over creative differences
Los Angeles: Actor-director Sacha Baron Cohen has quit singer Freddie Mercury's biopic over creative differences with the remaining members of the latter's band Queen.

The Dictator star, who has a strong resemblance to the gay singing icon, was in talks to play Mercury but he has pulled out, reported Deadline.

The differences occurred over the content of the movie. The band wanted to make more of a PG movie about Queen but Cohen was more keen on doing a gritty R-rated tell-all on the singer.

Cohen had brought in Peter Morgan to write and various directors including David Fincher and Tom Hooper to develop the project for himself.

However, band did not approve any of them and the creative difference led to Cohen's departure from the project.
