- Sadhguru announced an animated film titled Shiva - The Adiyogi

Sadhguru is taking the story of Shiva to the big screen in a new animated film. On August 24, he announced a collaboration with Graphic India, the studio behind The Legend of Hanuman, for an upcoming feature titled Shiva - The Adiyogi.
The film will tell the story of Shiva as Adiyogi, described in the yogic tradition as the first yogi and the first guru. It will draw from the yogic lore narrated by Sadhguru and focus on the origins of Yoga and the ideas associated with Adiyogi.
Unlike a conventional mythological film, Shiva - The Adiyogi will tell the story through animation. Graphic India's team is developing the film with the aim of giving it the scale of a global theatrical release while keeping the story rooted in India's spiritual and yogic traditions.
Sharad Devarajan, Co-Founder of Graphic India, will produce, co-create, and write the film. He is best known for co-creating The Legend of Hanuman and the animated Baahubali projects Baahubali: The Lost Legends and Baahubali: Crown of Blood.
He also co-created Pavitr Prabhakar, Marvel's Indian Spider-Man, who later featured in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
Talking about the film and his understanding of Shiva, Sadhguru said in a press release, "In the yogic culture, Shiva is not seen as a God. For us, Shiva is the Adiyogi - the first yogi, and the Adiguru - the first guru. For the first time in the history of humanity, Shiva the Adiyogi introduced the idea that the simple laws of nature are not permanent restrictions. If one is willing to strive, one can go beyond all limitations and attain to liberation. Breaking the laws of physical nature is a spiritual process. In this sense, we are outlaws, and Shiva is the ultimate outlaw."
The project is currently in development, with Graphic India's animation studio working on bringing the story to life. The film is expected to introduce the story of Adiyogi to a wider audience, including viewers who may be unfamiliar with the yogic traditions surrounding Shiva.
Shiva - The Adiyogi will release in cinemas worldwide in 2027.
