New Delhi: Actor Saif Ali Khan's much-awaited film Chef will release in theatres on October 6, reported trade analyst Taran Adarsh. Earlier, the film was scheduled to release on July 14. However, director Raja Krishna Menon decided to postpone the release date as his film would have clashed at the box-office with Anurag Basu's much-delayed film Jagga Jasoos, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. Speaking to DNA, the filmmaker said: "July 14 became over-crowded. There are too many releases in the first two weeks if July." Chef, produced by T-Series, also stars Padmapriya Janakiraman in the lead role. The movie is the remake of 2014 Hollywood film of the same name.
Mr Adarsh shared the new release date of Chef on social media along with a picture of Saif Ali Khan, who can be seen engrossed in cooking.
Director Raja Krishna Menon previously helmed 2016 movie Airlift, starring Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur. The film received positive reviews from the audience and critics.
Saif Ali Khan was last seen in Vishal Bhardwaj's Rangoon, co-starring Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut. The film, which was set during World War II, didn't fare well at the box office. Saif Ali Khan will next be seen in Baazaar, directed by Gauravv K Chawla. The film, which has been co-produced by Nikkhil Advani, is loosely based on Michael Douglas' Wall Street or Leonardo Di Caprio's The Wolf of Wall Street.
Baazaar also stars Chitrangada Singh, who will be seen portraying the role of Saif's wife in the film. The film also stars late actor Vinod Mehra's son Rohan in a key role. Baazaar will release in December this year.
