New Delhi:
Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was crowned as the 10th Nawab of Pataudi today (October 31, 2011) in Pataudi Palace.
The ceremony was very small and private and attended by very few people.
Sharmila Tagore and Saif's sisters, Soha and Saba, along with his daughter Sara were joined by select friends including Meera and Muzzaffar Ali, and hotelier Aman Nath. Kareena Kapoor is not in attendance, as she's in London shooting for her next film with Aamir Khan - Reema Kagti's Dhuan.
Saif is the first titleholder from Bollywood.
Though the title of 'Nawab' is not recognised by the Indian government any more, this ceremony is being held for its sentimental value, especially for the people of Pataudi. Pataudi has been ruled by Saif's forefathers since the early 19th century.
Reports also suggest that Saif will not use the title of Nawab and wants to remember his father as the last Nawab of Pataudi.
Saif's father Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi died on September 22, 2011.
