Mumbai:
Composer duo Salim-Sulaiman are excited to re-create the magic of classics in a contemporary way through a concert called - 'The Bollywood Musical'.
"The show will bring old songs and represent in a big concert with a live orchestra, but in a contemporary way with bass player, drummer, keyboard and guitarists. We will give it a newer look. The way they used to produce old songs with a live orchestra, we are going to do this live on stage and bring all these amazing songs to you," said Salim Merchant.
A Saregama initiative, the series of concerts will take place at historical venues all over the country from October. Some of the songs that will be played in the concerts are Lata Mangeshkar's Lag jaa gale and Rahul Dev Burman's Tere bina zindagi.
Salim-Sulaiman plan to have at least 30 people on stage as a part of the orchestra.
"We have been planning it from the last two years. The level of the show is very high. There is lot of costs and planning involved, so that this project reaches a level where it can be called an international show. We took around one and a half years to plan. We will take 3-4 months more to plan the intricate things which actually make the show successful," said Sulaiman.
The duo have been composing music for films for over a decade and are known for movies like Chak De! India, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Fashion.
