Salma Hayek says she works only during summers
Miami: Mexican actress Salma Hayek has said that she rejected "many" roles in her career to be with her family and enjoy a more home-oriented life.

"I've said no to many things and I don't regret it," said the actress, who was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in Frida (2003).

Hayek, who is also a film producer said that she forced herself to work in big productions during summer holidays, when her five-year-old daughter, Valentina Paloma, was not going to school.

"If you notice, I only work in the summers," she said.

The actress said she has been greatly supported in her career by her husband, French businessman Francois-Henri Pinault and also by her daughter.

"I'm very lucky because my daughter and my husband support me a lot in my work. So, thanks to that, I can do many things," said Hayek.

Hayek began enjoying considerable success in her career and became one of Hollywood's most popular Hispanic actresses after Desperado (1995), where she landed a role alongside Spanish actor Antonio Banderas.

She went on to work with Banderas on projects such as Spy Kids (2001), Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003) and Frida (2002).One of her most recent films with Banderas was animated film Puss in Boots, in 2011, where the pair lent the voices of the main characters.
