Singer Neha Bhasin said that Arijit Singh's public apology to actor Salman Khan may not have been the best thing to do as it got messier post that.
Last month, Arijit wrote Salman Khan an impassioned Facebook post (which he later deleted) pleading that his recording of the song be retained in Sultan. Salman, who has reportedly not forgiven Arijit for allegedly insulting him at an award show three years ago, has ignored the post and subsequent news reports.
According to reports, the song Jag Ghoomeya was initially recorded by Arijit but was however re-recorded in Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's voice.
Neha, who has sung the female version of the track, said that if she would have been in Arijit's place, she would have looked for another way.
"I don't even know what the truth is so it would be unfair to comment on that. But if it were true, then it is sad. I believe it is always best to be grateful about everything you have in your life," Neha told PTI.
"If I was in his (Arijit's) place, I would have found another route. According to me, public apology was not the best way to deal with it. It has become a little messy. People feed on these things and as an artist, a public figure, even I am cautions about what to say," said Neha.
Neha, 33, is happy that her version of the song is being appreciated.
"People are loving my version and some have said that they love it more than that of Rahat's. I take that as a humble happiness. He is the baap of all in this genre while I am still exploring it. The compliments are very encouraging," said Neha.
Meanwhile, Neha is all set with her latest single Madhaniya, a traditional Punjabi folk track sung by the family while bidding farewell to the daughter after marriage.
"I have sung what my mother passed on to me. It was very emotional for me to sing this song even though I am not married. I have stayed away from my family since I was 19 because of my career in music. So I could relate to it," said Neha.
Composed by Sameer Uddin, Neha feels Madhaniya will strike a chord with listeners as people like folk songs these days.
"It is a good time for folk songs. There is a section of people who love 'fast food' kind of music but there is also a sizable number of people who love the good old music of the sixties, seventies and eighties. People are now re-connecting with the soul of an artist," said Neha.
Sultan, which casts Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma as wrestlers, is scheduled to release on Eid.
