Mumbai's Galaxy Apartments, actor Salman Khan's sea-facing home he shares with his parents, has often the focal point of many filmy feasts and soirees thrown by its celebrity residents. Now, the mood here is somber as family and friends rally around the 49-year-old star of films such as Dabangg after a court sent him to jail for five years for drunk driving and killing one person.
As a steady stream of well-wishers trickled in, the actor's family has thanked everyone who stood by them and said they are putting their faith in the Almighty. His newly-married sister Arpita, who broke down in court as the verdict was pronounced yesterday, tweeted late at night:
Today was a day filled with ups & downs, highs lows.We leave the rest to God hope pray for the best.Thank you all for being with us!

Mr Khan's brothers Arbaaz and Sohail and his elder sister Alvira, all of who accompanied him to court, also became emotional after the Sessions Court convicted the actor for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, driving without a licence and other offences in the hit-and-run that took place in suburban Bandra in September 2002. Sohail Khan left the court after Salman's mother Salma Khan was taken ill at home.
Salman Khan had, infact, hugged his parents moments before he left for the court.
The actor, who has two films currently in production, was granted bail till Friday by the Bombay High Court.
