Salman Khan Illegal Arms Case: Court Admits Actor's Plea to Re-examine Witnesses

Salman Khan Illegal Arms Case: Court Admits Actor's Plea to Re-examine Witnesses
Salman is accused of using arms whose license had expired
Jaipur: A Jodhpur court on Monday called for the record of a subordinate court regarding the case relating to the illegal possession and use of arms by actor Salman Khan on the basis of a revision plea filed by him.

District and Sessions Judge, Jodhpur, Manoj Kumar Vyas, while admitting the revision petition moved by Mr Khan for hearing, ordered summons of the record from the court of chief judicial magistrate and posted the matter on May 1 for detailed hearing.

Mr Khan and some of his co-stars from Hum Saath Saath Hain - Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam - are accused of poaching black bucks while shooting for their film in 1998. The actor was accused of carrying and using illegal arms whose license had expired and consequently, a case under the Arms Act was registered against him.

Mr Khan, through his advocate, moved an application before the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) in Jodhpur on April 22 demanding the re-examination of five witnesses in that case. His counsel argued that after three eight-year-old applications of the prosecution were allowed and four witnesses examined a few days back, the scenario had changed. However, this application was rejected by the CJM on April 23.

Challenging the decision, the actor then approached the district and sessions court.

"The district court has admitted our revision petition for hearing and the next date of hearing has been fixed on May 1," Salman Khan's advocate Hastimal Sarswat told IANS over phone.

On April 23, the court of the CJM had asked Mr Khan to remain present before the court on April 29 for recording of his statement.
