Salman Khan photographed in Mumbai.
New Delhi:
First, the good news - those Salman Khan fans demanding a wedding date now have one.
Now, the bad news - a date and a month have been made public, the year hasn't.
At 50, Salman is Bollywood's most eligible bachelor and has defended his singledom with determination. He has, over the years, creatively fended off the 'shaadi kab karoge' questions. On July 17, it was put to him by tennis champ Sania Mirza at the Mumbai launch of her autobiography, Ace Against Odds.
As Indian Express reports it, Salman provided this half-truth: "Yes. 18th November.Yeh 18th November kuch bees pachees November se chal raha hai. Lekin pata nahi kaunse saal main hoga. Lekin hoga."
Salman's parents - writer Salim Khan and mother Salma Khan - reportedly married on November 18, which is also the wedding date of Salman's sister Arpita Khan Sharma. Arpita married Aayush in 2014.
The actor, who is reportedly dating Romanian model Iulia Vantur, also explained why his single status might have to change. "I know a few who are complaining. Aapko nahi pata kitna pressure hai. I am talking about my mother and sisters. They want me to get married."
Meanwhile, Sania tweeted pictures from the event on Sunday night:
This is what Salman wrote about Sania's book:
Salman Khan and Iulia Vantur are often spotted together. On July 13, Salman and Iulia were photographed arriving together for a party hosted by Arpita.
Salman and Iulia were also photographed together at actress Preity Zinta's reception party in May. Iulia was spotted escorting Salman's mother Salma Khan through the Mumbai airport. Iulia also accompanied Salman to the screening of his new film Sultan, when it released on July 6.
Salman Khan has not yet apologized for his comment last month in which he compared himself to a raped woman while describing his experience of shooting for Sultan. He has also failed to show up for repeated summons from the National Women's Commission and its Maharashtra counterpart.
Last seen in Sultan with Anushka Sharma, Salman will soon start working with Kabir Khan on their next film Tube Light.
