New Delhi:
Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan is less than a month away from its big Friday and, per Bollywood practice, he ought to be on publicity duty. So the launch of the music of the film in the absence of the Bajrangi himself raised some eyebrows.
Director Kabir Khan, singer Adnan Sami (who sings the qawaali Bhar Do Jholi Mein) and lyricist Kausar Munir attended the launch event on June 26 in Mumbai and the non-appearance of the film's star was attributed to him filming his other Barjatya-directed movie.
Kabir Khan explained, "He's not going to be there at every single launch. Right now he's shooting for Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. Since this is the music launch and the star is Adnan, we wanted to do it with Adnan."
That may be a fact but so is this - at the launch of the trailer, questions about whether Salman's appeal in the hit-and-run case would affect promotions made him visibly uncomfortable and were neatly deflected.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan stars Salman as the rescuer of a young girl he vows to see safely home to Pakistan. It co-stars Kareena Kapoor and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and releases next month on the Eid weekend.
