Dehradun: Even before the release of Salman Khan's Sultan, the movie and its cast has been making waves in the otherwise quiet valley of Dehradun.
Satish Sharma, who hails from the city and owns and edits a daily newspaper, will be seen sharing screen space with Salman in the film. He will be seen as a politician in Sultan.
Of his role Mr Sharma said, "I got a politician's role opposite superstar Salman Khan, thanks to director Ali Abbas Zafar, who recommended my name to the selectors. I recorded my audition and sent it and the rest, as they say, is history."
The four-day shoot took place in Yash Raj Film's studio in Mumbai earlier this year. At first, working with Salman was 'unnerving' for Mr Sharma, but within minutes Salman put him at ease.
Mr Sharma is not new to Bollywood. For years now he has been working relentlessly in propagating Uttarakhand as a film destination.
As for acting, he said, "I was helping out a friend in scouting locations in Mussoorie, when I was offered my first role, by Nitin Shingal for Maazi, followed by GOL - Gangs of Little."
He had also worked as production-in-charge, Uttarakhand, for Tigmanshu Dhulia's Yaaraa and Pampapur Ki Ramlila as well.
So how does he feel post Sultan's experience?
"I have only just begun a new journey and am enjoying every bit of it. Now I am waiting for the day when people begin to recognize me for my screen presence," he said.
Sultan stars Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma as Haryanavi wrestlers. It also stars Randeep Hooda and Amit Sadh. The film is slated to release in July this year.
