Mumbai: The Hindi remake of the Tamil film Saamy has him play a roughneck cop. He combines both the bad cop-good cop act with a bit of a comic touch in his character.
The star begins shooting for the film from August 20. The makers are having a 52-day schedule in Hyderabad where a special set is being prepared. The film is directed by K S Ravikumar and marks the Tamil director's Bollywood debut.
Ravikumar had earlier directed the Kamal Haasan starrer Dasavathaaram.
Producer T P Aggarwal who is currently in Chennai for the pre-production says, "Sanjay Dutt considers this project very close to his heart. He will be seen in a new avatar as a cop. His character is loud and riotous." The original Saamy had released in 2003 and starred Vikram and Trisha. It was a box office success.
