Sanjay Dutt has been on a parole since December 2013.
New Delhi:
Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt's parole has ended today and he will return to Yerwada Jail on Saturday (March 22).
Mr Dutt is currently serving the remaining 42 months of his sentence for illegal possession of arms in a case related to the 1993 serial blasts.
Mr Dutt was released from Pune's jail on a one-month parole on December 21, 2013. The parole was later extended till February 21.
Mr Dutt had applied for the extension citing his wife Maanyata's ill health as the reason. Maanyata Dutt reportedly has a tumour in the liver.
The jail authorities in Pune have said that Mr Dutt's parole ends on Friday (March 21) but as per the rule he gets one day for travel and should be back by Saturday (March 22). Of the 303 days of jail term, Mr Dutt has spent 118 days out of prison either on parole or furlough.
The Supreme Court had announced a five-year prison term for the actor in 2013. He has already served 18 months of his jail term. He was shifted to Pune's Yerwada Central Jail in May 2013 after he surrendered before a Special Court.
