The 29th anniversary celebrations of multi-arts complex, Bharat Bhavan began here with a Sarod recital by maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan.
The internationally acclaimed Sarod player enthralled the audience in a packed hall with his soulful music along with his troupe including Vijay Ghate (Tabla) and Smita Nagdev (Tanpura).
He recited several ancient classical Indian ragas apart from two famous bhajans on the occasion last evening.
The musical journey began with a deeply moving and original rendition of 'Vaishnav Jana To...' in Raag Khamaj followed by another famous bhajan, 'Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram' in Raag Jayvanti.
Soon after the bhajans, Khan, attired in a sky blue kurta, moved on to Indian classical ragas and gave a sonorous presentation of Raag Shri- 'Alap-Jod-Jhala'.
The last two items, one a 'Rabindra Sangeet' and the other a folk tune from Assam in 'Dadra Tal' transported the audience into a delightful crescendo.
