Mumbai:
Legendary actor Dilip Kumar's grandniece Sayyeshaa Saigal will play the role of Sanjay Dutt's onscreen daughter in revenge drama Bhoomi, which is also the 57-year-old actor's comeback film. Mr Dutt will return to the silver screen with the Omung Kumar's next film Bhoomi. Sayyeshaa recently made her Bollywood debut with Ajay Devgn's Shivaay. Sources close to the production team revealed that the makers found Sayyeshaa appropriate for the role of the daughter.
"She (Sayyeshaa) has-been signed for the film as she was apt for the role. She will play the daughter. Her role is quite interesting and good. She will most likely start shooting next year in January. But before the shoot she will have workshops," sources said.
Bhoomi is an emotional, revenge drama that centres around the relationship between a father and daughter.
Earlier this month, Mr Dutt told reporters at a media interaction: "I have been looking for scripts that went beyond my screen persona. I wanted to do something vulnerable yet powerful. Bhoomi is an emotional and sensitive drama that explores the relationship between a father and daughter."
"This one will keep the audience taut and on the edge of their seats," said the director.
Producer Sandeep Singh added, "Baba (Sanjay Dutt) believed in the script from the day he heard it and has been the driving force behind this film. Bhoomi is a story that will buckle the trend. We are delighted that Sanjay Dutt is making a comeback through Bhoomi."
Sanjay Dutt's Bhoomi will go on the floors next year and will be shot extensively in Uttar Pradesh.
The film will be co-produced by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series, Sandeep Singh and Omung Kumar's Legend Studios.
