Sean Price, Member of Hip-Hop Group Heltah Skeltah, Dies at 43

Los Angeles: Rapper and member of the hip-hop groups Heltah Skeltah and Boot Camp Clik, Sean Price has died. He was 43.

Mr Price's record label, Duck Down Music, confirmed the news in a statement, reported Entertainment Weekly.

"It is with beyond a heavy heart that Duck Down Music is sadly confirming that Sean Price passed away early this morning in his Brooklyn apartment, Saturday, August 8th, 2015," the label said in a statement.

"The cause of death is currently unknown, but it was reported that he died in his sleep. He's survived by his wife, and his three children.

"Sean's family and friends are asking for time to grieve and process the news," the statement continued.

Sean Price was first known as Ruck when he came out on the scene as part of the hip-hop group Heltah Skeltah as well as the collective known as Boot Camp Clik.

He performed on their first LPs, Nocturnal and For the People, respectively.

Ruck later re-branded himself under his birth name, Sean Price, to embark on a solo career.

Mr Price released a number of albums including Monkey Barz and Mic Tyson. He also directed an animated music video to his song STFU Part 2 based on his Mic Tyson cover.
