Seema Biswas features in the movie Manjunath which released on May 9

National-award-winning actressSeema Biswas says that the industry is gradually changing andactresses above 30 are being offered better roles.(Also read: Movie review: Manjunath)
However, the versatile actress, 49, who has been in theindustry for over 20 years, says that in India, an actressreceives a lot of mother's roles after crossing 30.
"I feel like a much more mature actor with a range ofroles and performances that I did. But if in India you areolder, as a female actor, post 30 you begin worrying. Youbegin to get only mother's roles," Biswas told PTI.
"But recently we have seen different realisticstories. I am not worried but hopeful that different filmswill come my way. As an actor, I don't have too many worriesas I keep myself busy with theatre projects also," she said.
Biswas thinks that she has learnt a great deal from herexperiences.
"I have learnt from watching my own performances. Icontinue to change and improve as an actor, to achieve goodquality acting. I also learn from my co-actors, theirfreshness, spontaneity and so on are inspiring," she said.
Though she has delivered memorable performances invarious films, but one film of hers which no one can forget isBandit Queen. Despite doing several strong roles, peoplestill remember her as Bandit Queen and Biswas is fine withit and feels proud of it.
"I feel proud of the role, that role will always bewith me. It was the first film which at that time was ahead ofits time. For me it was my first and last film, but then I gotmany more offers after the industry saw my performance,"Biswas said.
Biswas, who was seen in the recently released filmManjunath, has been getting good response from critics.Manjunath is based on the real life story of youngIIM-Lucknow graduate Manjunath Shanmugham, who was killed onNovember 19, 2005, allegedly after he threatened to revoke thelicence of a Lakhimpur Kheri, UP petrol pump owner for sellingadulterated fuel.
The film is a heart wrenching story which Biswas thinksneeds to be told to the audience.
"I feel people should talk more about meaningful filmsbased on true stories and should know about the types ofcorruption we have in our country. Manjunath is not greatfrom a publicity point of view, but I hope it receives apositive response in the coming days. I am sure it will dowell," the actress said.
"A lot of films resonate and connect with audiencesand so I hope it does well in the coming days. The film hasbeen made with sincerity, hard work and honesty," she said.In the film, Biswas plays the role of Manjunath'smother who is very encouraging and supportive.
She experienced the feeling of insecurity for him."Sandeep Verma, the director of Manjunath, approachedme and narrated the story. He explained the background of theoil mafia to me.
