New Delhi:
How do you begin life anew after spending five years married to one of Hollywood's biggest stars? To start, you land a magazine cover, looking absolutely nothing like you did when you were a dutiful star wife.
That's just what the former Mrs Tom Cruise has done. Katie Holmes could have chosen no better way than to announce she is no longer Kate Cruise than to appear on the cover of C magazine's September issue, svelte in a figure hugging Tom Ford dress and hair flowing. Sexy Katie is a far different person, at least sartorially, from proper Kate. The sharply bobbed hair and the jeans + cardigan outfits appear to be a closed chapter now.
Katie filed for divorce from her famous husband on June 29, 2012. They had been together for seven years, of which they were married for five, and have a six year old daughter, Suri. The break up caught Tom by surprise. For years, he was seen as the dominant, even controlling, partner in the relationship. A perception that Katie finally came to share, gossip says.
Katie, who appeared in TV series Dawson's Creek and Christopher Nolan's first superhero installment, Batman Begins, is also determined to revive her flagging career. She will be following up a well received turn as Jackie O in TV series The Kennedys with a Broadway appearance.
And perhaps her Tom Ford-clad magazine cover will also serve to bring the sexier, leading lady roles her way again.
