Respect is the only word and thought on veteran actress and social activist Shabana Azmi's mind when she thinks of her husband Javed Akhtar's journey in Mumbai since he first stepped into the city on this day 50 years ago.
Shabana tweeted:
50 years ago Javed Akhtar came 2 Bombay 2 pursue career in films- slept on d streets no food 4days only talent n determination. RESPECT

Farhan Akhtar, Javed's son from his first marriage to Honey Irani, said the family has celebrated his journey with a lunch. He tweeted:
