Shah Rukh Khan blames <I>Om Shanti Om</i> distributors for Manoj Kumar lawsuit
Shah Rukh Khan says that the distributors had sent an old print of the film Om Shanti Om to Japan without deleting the particular scene.
Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khantoday blamed distributors for the legal row over Om ShantiOm involving veteran actor Manoj Kumar.

Manoj Kumar has filed a lawsuit against the makers forallegedly defaming him in the 2007 film, which featured ShahRukh and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles.

The Bollywood musical romantic comedy, directed andchoreographed by Farah Khan, landed in a fresh row after itwas re-released in Japan with the scene which Kumar hadobjected to.

Reacting to the legal recourse taken by Kumar, Shah Rukhsaid, "I don't know much about it as I have just come back.Very honestly I had personally apologised to him then. Myrespect goes to all actors who are older and younger to me.Distributors have made a genuine mistake... old print was sent(to Japan)."

"He (Kumar) has done a legal thing. He is welcome todo that. I don't take it personal," he told reporters at anevent.

When Om Shanti Om first released, Manoj Kumar had takenobjection to a scene, which according to him, pokes fun athim. He demanded that the scene be omitted from the film andthe makers obliged.

A few weeks ago, the film was re-released in Japan butwith the objectionable scene. Kumar filed a criminal complaintagainst the producers (Shah Rukh and Eros International) forshowing Om Shanti Om in Japan without removing theparticular scene.

According to Manoj Kumar, they also face contempt of court asin 2008 a city civil court had asked them to delete the scenefrom all prints.
