Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khanhas been booked by city police for allegedly insulting thenational flag, police said today.
Based on the complaint of Lok Janshakti Party nationalsecretary Ravi Brahme that Shah Rukh Khan allegedly insultedthe tricolour in a video upload on Youtube, the Chatushringipolice lodged an FIR against the actor on August 14.
"Shah Rukh Khan has been booked under sections ofPrevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971. The casewas registered on August 14 and has been transferred to Mumbaipolice for further investigation. The case documents consistsome photos and videos too," a police officer said.
Incidentally, Brahme had recently lodged a complaintagainst Mumbai-based model Gehna Vashisht for allegedlyinsulting the national flag by wearing it as a bikini.
She was arrested on August 18 by Deccan Gymkhanapolice in Pune and released on bail, the next day.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh's manager in Mumbai wasunavailable for comment.
