Shah Rukh Khan is Top-Earning Indian Celeb, Outranks Salman, Big B

New Delhi: Forbes has released its annual list of India's top 100 celebrities ranked in order of their earnings and fame put together. Actor Shah Rukh Khan has reclaimed the top spot, with earnings listed as a whopping Rs 257.50 crores, 9% of the 2,819 crores collectively made by the top 100 celebs this year. SRK topped the 2013 list but had fallen to number three behind Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan last year. This year, Salman and Big B occupy the second and third spots. Big B is ranked as the most famous, however, while SRK is only fourth-most after Salman and Sachin Tendulkar. (Also Read: Salman Khan's Friends (Some of Them) Celebrate on Twitter)

The Forbes list is dominated by names from the world of cricket and Bollywood. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is fourth overall but fifth in terms of fame. Aamir Khan is seventh most famous as well as the seventh highest earner but comes in at number five overall. Akshay Kumar, Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan round off the top 10. Filmmaker SS Rajamouli and actor Prabhas make it to the list because of their megahit Baahubali.

Forbes says SRK's estimated earnings of Rs 257.50 crores are the 'highest ever' any celebrity has made in the four-year history of the Forbes India Celebrity 100 list. Salman's estimated earnings stand at Rs 202.75 crores - around Rs 50 crore less than what SRK earned. Akshay Kumar's earnings fetch him the third position among celebs with the highest income, but he loses out to the 'more-famous' Aamir overall. Aamir has made it to the top five for the first time, thanks to PK's success and revenues from brand endorsements which have helped him rake in an estimated Rs 104.25 crore - his best in the last four years.

"It is an increase of 145 per cent to the amount he earned in 2012. On the other hand, Alia Bhatt and Madhuri Dixit have moved up the list despite no movie release in the time period under consideration (October 1, 2014 to September 30, 2015). Their rise on the list is entirely due to earnings from brand endorsements and their fame quotient," Forbes said.

Celebs like Yo Yo Honey Singh, Sunny Leone, Virender Sehwag, Jacqueline Fernandez, Ishant Sharma, Harbhajan Singh and Gautam Gambhir had an income in the range of Rs 1.5-7 cr but still get a slot in the top 50 because of their popularity.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali, A R Murugadoss and 17 other celebs who made it to previous lists failed to figure in this year's.
