New Delhi:
Shirish Kunder's Joker is two weeks away from release and the question everyone's been asking as the countdown begins is, where are the stars of the film at the promotions?
Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha have been conspicuous by their absence but that doesn't seem to be getting either director Shirish or his wife and producer Farah Khan down. That's because they've had a little superstar help with the publicity for the alien-themed movie.
On the evening of August 16, Shah Rukh Khan's Bandra bungalow Mannat was where the press were introduced to the rest of the cast of Joker - and if they looked suspiciously like giant versions of things you would dig up in your kitchen garden, SRK, for one, wasn't complaining.
He said: "I am very happy that Karela and Kaddu have come to my house. I'm non-vegetarian and Karela and Kaddu aren't among my favourite foods, so fortunately for them I won't eat them when they visit."
Well, haha SRK.
Joker is, of course, the film that was at the heart of the SRK-Farah fall out, and the infamous SRK vs Shirish brawl in a Mumbai nightclub in Januayr. After Shah Rukh refused to star in Shirish's film, Farah cast Akshay Kumar in Tees Maar Khan, her first movie as director without Shah Rukh.
It's pretty well known that although bridges between SRK and Farah have since been mended, SRK and Shirish are still not overly fond of each other. But for once, all differences were put aside as SRK went out of his way for film that he has nothing to do with.
SRK said: "This is not somebody else's film. Its' Farah's and Shirish's. They've been my friends for years. I'm her friend which is why I'm doing this, why would I do it otherwise? She requested me and I think it's an interesting concept."
The tagline of Joker reads - When being human doesn't work, try being alien.
For once, Shirish's friend and SRK's arch-enemy Salman left the "Being Human" to the other Khan.
