Shah Rukh Khan's new film Happy New Year has made Rs 175 crores worldwide in its first weekend since it released on October 24, reports Box Office India. Aamir Khan's Dhoom: 3 leads worldwide opening weekend collections with Rs 192 crores and Happy New Year's earnings places it second. SRK's 2013 blockbuster Chennai Express takes third spot with Rs 160 crores.
At home, Happy New Year has fetched about Rs 109 crores. It made over Rs 44 crores on the day it released, which means it now holds the record for the biggest opening day figures pushing Dhoom: 3 to second place. (Also Read: Happy New Year Has Another Reason to Celebrate)

Happy New Year reunites SRK with Farah Khan, who previously directed him in Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om. It is also his third film with actress Deepika Padukone, after Om Shanti Om and Chennai Express.
In the film, actors Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah complete the group of 'losers' led by SRK and Deepika who plan a diamond heist in Dubai under cover of competing in a dance championship.
