Shah Rukh to help build Brand Bengal

Kolkata: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khantoday agreed to be the brand ambassador of West Bengal on arequest from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

The chief minister made the request during an interactionwith Khan on the sidelines of the inaugural function of the17th Kolkata Film Festival.

"Yes, he has agreed," Banerjee said when asked abouther proposal to Khan and his response.

During the interaction, King Khan is reported to havetold Banerjee that he would be in the state whenever the chiefminister called him.

Recalling the shooting of some sequences of his filmRaju Ban Gaya Gentleman in Darjeeling, Khan said he had fondmemories of his stay there.

Earlier, speaking at the inaugural ceremony of thefilm festival, Khan sung paeans to Kolkata, describing it asthe country's cultural and literary hub which produced thebest of Indian cinema.

"I believe that the history of our arts, literature,poetry and films cannot be written, or ever begin without thestate of West Bengal," SRK, who owns the Kolkata KnightRiders team of the IPL, said.
