New Delhi:
Actor Shahid Kapoor, 34, married fiancee Mira Rajput, 21, in an intimate ceremony in Delhi on Tuesday. The wedding, with rituals in traditional Punjabi style, is believed to have been attended only by close friends and family.
The couple wound up their wedding festivities in Delhi with a reception at the Oberoi hotel in Gurgaon with the gathering at the after-party was 10 times larger, with about 500 or so guests invited.
At the reception, Shahid looked dashing in formals, while Mira shone in embellished couture with a sheer overlay.
Meanwhile, soon after photos from the ceremony began to trickle onto social media, the actor himself Instagrammed a selfie with his new bride:
Mira wore pale pink Anamika Khanna. Shahid was dressed in an outfit by designer Kunal Rawal, who was at the wedding:
A fan club of the actor posted a picture of the rituals on Twitter:
The actor introduced his new bride to the press at a photo-op after the wedding:
An after-party will reportedly be held later this evening at The Oberoi in Gurgaon where the ballroom has been booked. 500-odd guests are believed to have been invited, mostly family, some friends and embers of the Radha Soami Satsang to which both families belong.
Family - those spotted included Shahid's dad Pankaj Kapur, step-mother Supriya Pathak, and step-siblings Sanaah and Ruhaan - and other guests checked into the Trident next door on Sunday. Some 50 rooms have reportedly been reserved for wedding invitees including the grand Presidential Suite, a swanky two-bedroom affair that come with its own gym and pool.
The wedding itself may have been off-limits to the world in general but a big fat Punjabi sangeet was held on Monday night from where video of Shahid and Mira dancing and a photo of Mira bedecked in phoolon ka gehna have emerged.
The bride wore yellow and the groom, red. The playlist reportedly included Shahid hits like Mauja Hi Mauja and Saree Ka Fall Sa.
Shahid, Sanaah and Ruhaan were photographed on their way from the hotel to the sangeet earlier in the evening.
On Monday morning, Shahid flew out from Mumbai to Delhi. He is currently busy with commitments to talent show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, which he is judging, and will reportedly be unable to make time just now for a honeymoon.
A reception is apparently scheduled in Mumbai for July 12.
