New Delhi:
Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey, after years of dodging questions about his sexual orientation, on Monday revealed to the world that he is in fact gay. But, the actor's statement comes hours after actor Anthony Rapp ( Star Trek: Discovery and A Beautiful Mind) alleged that the Oscar-winning actor made a 'sexual advance' towards him when he was only 14. Twitter is outraged that Mr Spacey issued an apology to Mr Rapp and came out as gay in the same statement to "distract everyone from the fact that he just got exposed as a child molester." In the first part of the statement Kevin Spacey posted on Twitter, the actor said sincerely apologized to Anthony Rapp for his "deeply inappropriate drunken behaviour" and in the second half he said that "this story encouraged him to address other things about his life." A Twitter user said, "Kevin Spacey 'came out' so the media can focus on that instead of his predatory behaviour."
Here are some reactions to Kevin Spacey' statement:
In his statement, Kevin Spacey wrote: "I'm horrified beyond words to hear his story. I honesty do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago. But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behaviour." He added: "This story has encouraged me to address other things in my life... I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I now choose to live life as a gay man."
Anthony Rapp, who met Kevin Spacey when they were performing in Broadway, to Buzzfeed News that the House of Cards actor "picked him up, placed him on his bed, and climbed on top of him, making a sexual advance." Anthony Rapp, who hadn't told anyone about this encounter in all these years, felt compelled to talk about it after the Harvey Weinstein case. "I'm feeling really awake to the moment that we're living in, and I'm hopeful that this can make a difference," he said.

Nope to Kevin Spacey's statement. Nope. There's no amount of drunk or closeted that excuses or explains away assaulting a 14-year-old child.

My gay son & his friends fight stereotypes constantly - shame on you Kevin Spacey for linking assaulting a minor with coming out as gay.
