People from all walks of life, including members of the film industry, paid their last respects to veteran Malayalam actress Shanta Devi,who died in Kozhikode yesterday.
Kozhikode District Collector Dr P B Salim placed a wreathon behalf of Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan.
Later, the body was cremated with full state honours.
Earlier, the body was kept at the Kozhikode Town Hallfor the public to pay homage.
Union Minister of State for Railways, E Ahamed and KeralaIndustries Minister Elamaram Kareem were among those who paidtheir last respects.
Shanta Devi (85), who had acted in over 480 films, dieddue to prolonged illness at a private hospital.
