London: Basic Instinct star Sharon Stone says she keeps negativity at bay to be happy in a relationship.
The 55-year-old actress said that many people mistake love with something else, reported Daily Telegraph.
"Mostly I've learnt to let the negative things out of my life. I think happiness is what's important to remember, andthat any of us might see something that we think looks like love, but then we have to ask: 'Is it really bringing happiness to me, my family, my life?' And if it isn't, then we release it with love and grace. It's as simple as that," she said.
The actress, who has three sons, said she was raised by much stricter parents than she with her children.
"We knew we'd better do what we were supposed to do. The language kids use today, I say to my boys: 'You know, if I had talked like you are talking now, my mother would have washed my mouth out with soap.' And she would literally do that. Don't get me wrong, they were great parents. It was just a different time back then," she added.
