Writer and actor Shiv Subramaniam, who was cremated today, has been remembered with respect by his colleagues. Mr Subramaniam appeared in films such as 2 States as an actor and also wrote films like Parinda. On Monday, his co-star Anil Kapoor tweeted, "I had the opportunity to work with Shiv first in Parinda and then in 24 and both the times he was exceptional. An excellent actor who will be truly missed…my heartfelt condolences to the family." See his tweet here.

Anil Kapoor's nephew Arjun, who appeared in 2 States with Mr Subramaniam, wrote in an Instagram Story: "Rest in peace, Shiv sir. You will be missed."
Shiv Subramaniam also wrote Sudhir Mishra's Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi. Mr Mishra tweeted, "Shiv Subramaniam co-wrote Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin, Chameli and Hazaaron with me but much before that in 1984, when I was a writer on Saeed Mirza's Mohan Joshi Haazir Ho, Naseer ( NaseeruddinShah) brought this young kid to the set n told me to teach him the ropes. Filmmaker Hansal Mehta was among the first to announce Mr Subramaniam's death. He tweeted, "Terrible news to wake up to. Shiv Subramaniam gone. Heartbreaking."

He also shared a message revealing details of the last rites: "The funeral will leave from Shishira, Yamuna Nagar, Lokhandwala Back road, Andheri West at 10 am, 11.04.2022. The cremation will be at 11 am at Mokshdham Hindu Shamshanbhoomi, Ceasar Rd, Amboli, Andheri West, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400058."

The cause of Shiv Subramaniam's death has not been revealed.
In one of his best-known roles, Shiv Subramaniam played Alia Bhatt's father in 2 States. His acting credits also include Kaminey, Hichki, Stanley Ka Dabba and That Girl In Yellow Boots. He was last seen in Meenakshi Sundareshwar.
