Actor Shreyas Talpade is keen to doan action film and if all goes well, he might soon be seen inone such potboiler on student politics.
"The thing is that you have grown up watching AmitabhBachchan sir and all the masala entertainers, where drama,action, comedy all is part of one film. So somewhere as anactor I wanted to do it. It is not like because Salman Khan orShah Rukh Khan are doing action films now I also want to do it.I will do action films if proper script comes my way," Shreyastold PTI in an interview.
The 36-year-old has been approached for an action film,for which he has been asked to bulk up and get into shape.
"There is a film that we are working on. It was based inLucknow and it was more raw action kind of a film. It hadnothing to do with cable or stylized action sequences, it waslike politics, university, and all action stuff kind of afilm. My director wanted me to bulk up a bit so I startedworking out on it. It is too early to talk about it," Shreyassaid.
"It is set in Lucknow and the backdrop is Lucknow Universityand that is where the story unfolds. They are basicallystudents, who get involved in politics and it is their story,"he said.
Unfortunately the untitled film has got postponed.
"Things have got postponed. There were some issueshappening with casting and hence they are taking time,"Shreyas said.
Now the actor is basking in the glory of Sajid Khan'sHousefull 2 that has done good business since its release.
"I am very happy with the response we have got. It feelsgreat to hear that everyone has liked it. The entire team ishappy with the response. I remember on the first day of theshooting, Sajid had said welcome on the sets of the biggestblockbuster film of the year. I hope Housefull 2 becomes abigger hit than Golmaal 3," he said.
Well, even before Housefull 2 was released directorSajid Khan had revealed his plan of making third installment.
Ask Shreyas if he is aware of such development, hesaid, "Sajid had said Housefull 3 would happen. He didmention that he is planning it, don't know exactly when. Buthe very strictly told all of us that we have to be part ofit."
"For Housefull 2 I had committed to the film evenbefore knowing what the film was about. Sajid had called meone afternoon saying you have to do one film because I amasking you to do it. So if he feels I should be part ofHousefull 3 then I would be more than happy to do it," hesaid.
Shreyas, who started off with films like Iqbal andDor, later shifted to comedies like Apna Sapna MoneyMoney, Golmaal Returns, Paying Guests, Golmaal 3, HumTum Shabana. He says he is now keen on getting back toserious stuff.
"There was a time when after Iqbal, people consideredme as extremely serious kind of a character. No one consideredme for comedy. I remember a very reputed and senior directortelling me that you are a serious kind of an actor and that Ican't do comedy. Coming from there and doing comedy one afterthe other, I consider it as an achievement," Shreyas said.
"But having said that, I am looking for some seriousstuff. Infact, this film (Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal) is amixture of everything it has comedy, which is an importantpart of it, but there is drama, action, it is complete familyentertainment," he said.
Shreyas would be seen next in Priyadarshan's comedy filmKamaal Dhamaal Malamaal, which the director claims is not asequel to 2006 hit film Malamaal Weekly.
