New Delhi:
Simon Cowell battled to try to stop Cheryl Cole being dumped from US 'X Factor'.
It was claimed earlier this week that the British singer has been replaced on the judging panel by Nicole Scherzinger although no formal announcement has been made but the music mogul's close friend Sinitta says the pair are in talks to try and resolve the situation after Fox executives reportedly insisted she was sacked.
She said: "There is something going on. All I can say is Simon and Cheryl are very close and I believe they are in talks to try and sort something out. As soon as they agree on something then we will hear about it.
"They are having private conversations. Simon really, really wanted Cheryl on the American show. He really fought to have her there.
"They are talking and they are working on something that they will agree on. Simon was 100 per cent behind Cheryl and I am sure that very, very soon, maybe today, we will find out what that decision will be."
Sinitta admitted she is shocked at Cheryl's departure - which is said to have been the result of both her strong Newcastle accent and a lack of chemistry with fellow judge Paula Abdul - because Simon was so happy with her progress but admitted she would love to see the singer return to the UK version of the show.
She added in an interview on UK TV show 'Daybreak': "When I spoke to Simon a few weeks ago all he spoke about was how well it was going and how much he was enjoying the show.
"Personally if she is not going to be on the American show then it would be great to have her back here - I know that's what her fans want."
Despite the claims about Cheryl's dismissal from the show, representatives for the 'Parachute' singer, Simon, or 'The X Factor' have not yet given any official comment.
