The nightingale of India had alleged a few days before her 83rd birthday that she had refused to sing with Mohammed Rafi.

After Mohammad Rafi's son expressed outrage at Lata Mangeshkar's claims about a letter of apology written to her by the late singer, former vocalist Shabbir Kumar has now challenged the songstress to show the letter containing the purported apology.
"Lata ji's claims that Rafi saab had written her a letter of apology has hurt the sentiments of his fans and also raised doubts on her prestige," Shabbir Kumar said at a function here.
The nightingale of India had alleged a few days before her 83rd birthday that she had refused to sing with Mohammed Rafi, not the other way round, and was mollified only after he wrote her a letter of apology.
An outraged Shahid Rafi, the late singer's son, had also challenged Mangeshkar two weeks ago to produce the letter and had said he would contemplate legal action if she does not apologise.
