Mumbai: Having won several accolades for her singing talent, Sunidhi Chauhan now wants to spread her wings and try hands at acting in Bollywood films. The 32-year-old singer recently made her acting debut with the short film, Playing Priya.

The Sheila Ki Jawani hitmaker said earlier she wasn't prepared to take on the role of an actor, even though she was fascinated by acting since childhood.

"Earlier I wasn't ready to act but now I have reached a stage where I know this is the right time. I was inclined to acting since childhood. Now I want to do a lot of Bollywood films," Sunidhi told PTI.

"I am waiting for good roles and offers to come. I won't take up anything, I'll choose the right script and would definitely like to do a full length feature film," she said.

The singer, who sang hit tacks like Te Amo, Crazy Kiya Re, Kamli and Chor Bazari, said she was offered a film when she was just 19.

"When I was 19-year-old, I had an offer to act. But I turned it down because I wasn't ready for it. I wanted to focus on playback singing only. Now I know for sure I can give equal attention to both, singing and acting," she said.

Talking about Playing Priya, Sunidhi said she enjoyed the process of being in front of the camera and realised that the medium requires a lot of hard work.

"It was an amazing experience shooting for the film. Since it is a short film, I didn't have the burden of a feature length movie. What I did realise was, whether long or short, filmmaking requires a lot of hard work, dedication and patience," she said.

Helmed by Lekar Hum Deewana Dil director Arif Ali, Playing Priya is a fantasy thriller based in an urban landscape, which was recently released on the digital platform.

Sunidhi said even though she was initially nervous to act, she is now happy that people are talking about the film and noticing her performance. "Initially it was very difficult. But I enjoyed it a lot. I worked from the heart. People have praised it, and I am happy. Even seasoned actors have said they liked it, so it is overall a breath of fresh air for me, as well as the audience," she said.
