New Delhi:
Singer Toshi Sabri has called out cricketer Virat Kohli for posting a video of a little girl crying that went viral last week, saying the child is his niece and that the video had not been meant for public circulation. The little girl, three-years-old, is 'stubborn' and was filmed as proof, Toshi Sabri told Hindustan Times. The video shows the child weeping piteously as her mother forces her to recite numbers and was met with outraged criticism after being posted on social media by Virat, Yuvraj Singh and Shikhar Dhawan, who also denounced the mother's parenting style as 'hurtful' and 'unacceptable.'
"The video was made by the child's mother, who wanted to show her brother and husband how stubborn the girl has become," Toshi Sabri told Hindustan Times.
"Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan don't know about us. We know about our child better. Her nature is such that after being scolded, the next minute she runs off to play. But because of her nature if we don't push her, she won't study," Toshi told Hindustan Times.
The viral video has several lakhs views through various social media portals and Toshi Sabri told Hindustan Times that the family did not expect this. Toshi Sabri, who has composed music for films like Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Raaz - The Mystery Continues with his brother Sharib, said, "All the crying was for that moment so that her mother doesn't make her study and let her play."
"She is just about three-years-old. It's not a big issue. In every house there are different kinds of children. Ours is a very stubborn child but is extremely dear to us. One can't judge a mother's love for the child by seeing a short video. If children throw tantrums, then should we stop teaching them? It's not easy to raise children," Toshi Sabri told Hindustan Times.
Toshi and Sharib's last collaboration was for 2016 film Great Grand Masti.
