New York: Rapper Snoop Dogg is set to star in 'The Legend of Fillmore Slim', about the blues musician who became a well-known pimp in San Franciso during the 60s and 70s.
Dogg has sealed a deal with Ames Universal and SRI Entertainment to play the blues guitarist in the movie which has Hawthorne James as director.
"This film will span decades. From Slim's emergence as a musician, to his fascination with the fast life, through his years of incarceration and his redemption," co-producer Alan Ames told Deadline.
Slim was born with real name Clarence Sims. He is a blues singer and guitarist who began his music career in the 1950s. During the 1960s and 1970s, he was famously known as a pimp in San Francisco. Slim, who is currently 77-year-old, returned to music industry in the 1980s.
